Designer Nipples are a growing trend for women in search of the “perfect” nipple.-Dr. Scott Ennis
Nipples come in all shapes and sizes, but some women want a specific size.
Breast enhancement surgery has been topping the list of most popular plastic surgery procedures for years, but there is a surprising addition to this that an increasing number of women are seeking to improve-the nipple tuck.

Nipple Tuck or a Nipple Reduction for Designer Nipples
A nipple tuck or a nipple reduction is a breast reshaping procedure that is used to correct nipples that have become too large or have drooped as a result of genetics, weight loss, pregnancy or breast feeding. Protruding or large nipples can sometimes be bothersome due to their visibility through clothing or are physically uncomfortable and produce emotional distress, especially when the areola is physically and aesthetically larger than desired. Patients often have to wear heavier clothing or a thicker bra to help camouflage their unsightly or sagging appearance.
According to Dr. Scott Ennis, CEO and Founder of BECA Centers and Medical Director for Ennis Plastic Surgery, his practices have noticed a growing trend in women wanting smaller, perkier more youthful looking nipples in addition to or sometimes without corresponding breast augmentation surgery. This term is becoming commonly known as “designer nipple” surgery.
“Women are wanting the perfect breasts to feel more confident about themselves and to celebrate being a woman. In addition to breast augmentation, many of my patients are looking to recreate the look of current celebrities in the sheer tops with no bra.”
And Dr. Ennis observed many women who are looking to have breast augmentation to achieve perkier breasts do not want to wear a padded bra to cover protruding nipples. They want their nipples smaller and tighter to be able to go bra-less under a dress or shirt like Victoria Beckham, Gigi Hadid and other celebrities.

Inverted Nipples
In addition to being on trend, many women actually require the surgery due to genetically inverted nipples. Almost 20% of females are born with “innie” or inverted nipples and desire the surgery to correct this.
About the Nipple Tuck or Nipple Reduction Procedure
The nipple tuck, nipple reduction or designer nipple procedure involves making them smaller by cutting around the perimeter of the areola or at the base of the nipple and removing some of the skin before stitching it up. Not only can this make the nipple itself smaller around but shorter and more youthful as well. It can be performed under a local anesthesia or if done in combination with another breast surgery procedure, it would be performed under a general anesthesia.
